On Reading Between Wines

And they drank dark wine, and listened to the sea for a long time, until the words began to find them.

It feels right to begin with the Greek on the banner, and the phrase read between wines.
First of all, the Greek is, essentially, me. Not literally. But when I was about fourteen, trying to come up with a username for my email, I somehow decided I was an old Greek. If you’re laughing right now, just remember your own first username (exactly!). There was something about the rhythm of it. I had this feeling that somewhere there existed—or would exist—a version of life where I lived by the Mediterranean, picked peaches, tended to rose bushes, and everything moved at a calm, unhurried pace.
It’s the kind of feeling that suggests you’ve already lived there once—and might return someday. That’s probably how it works with places that matter: they stay with you a little longer than you stay with them.
